Magicstone - The Band

Magistone was founded in 2009.

Even though the band already exists since November 2008 they played nameless in the underground for nearly a year.

And here comes how Magicstone came to life.

In late 2006 the two band founders Paolo Zucchini and Marco Zbinden met at their workplace in Luxembourg.

Marco played already guitar for several years and in different bands. Due to personal priorities however he gave up playing for a while. Since Paolo showed vivid interest in guitar playing and after various conversations between the two band founders (it’s there were Paolo found out that guitars were not made out of  Polyethylene Terephthalate) Paolo decided to learn guitar and did not hesitate very long to go and buy his first guitar and amp.

From this moment on Paolo and Marco met from time to time to play guitar together after their work hours or on the week-ends.  In the very first beginning they tried to play songs from Pink Floyd, the Eagles, Deep-Purple, and many others of their favourite bands.

From the beginning Marco became also the singer of the band as he was the less worse vocalist of us.

In late 2007, after writing a few own songs both guitarists noticed that it would be cool to play with a drummer and a bassist. Paolo decided to recruit colleagues and friends from their working place.

In the first step Paolo recruited (kind of forced) a guy – let’s call him “G “ to play bass guitar. “G” obeyed, bought a bass guitar and an amp and played several times with us but due to personal priorities he did not find the time to do this on a regular basis and so he quit the band again very early.

End of 2008 Paolo tried to convince Johny Piron to join our band as a drummer as Johny sometimes mentioned to Paolo that in earlier years he already played the drums in a band.

However as Johny did not own drums at that moment he and Paolo went to the Music shop to buy drums. From this day on Johny was a fix member of Magicstone. (Later we found out that Johny never played before).

One month later Michael Schmidt also a work colleague and friend of Paolo, Johny and Marco joined the band as a bass player. Unfortunately persewing other career opportunities in Germany Michael could no longer stay in the band as a fix member.

Michael has been replaced in 2009 by Alan Govan who played already before in a band together with Marco.

In december 2010, Johny, our drummer, had to leave the band due to other personal priorities. So Magicstone made use of the modern technology of the 21th century to look for a new guy who'd like to join the band. We posted the request on Facebook and 37 minutes later we had a new drummer....

Ok well, it wasn't that fast. However, after a phone call and 2 rehearsals, we were sure that Gibert Kreb also called "Menn" was the right guy to join us on the Rock & Roll train.

He liked us and we liked him and there we go!!!

Magistone currently performs their own songs, mainly Rock music.

The main target for the band members is to have fun playing together, to be creative and the love of music.
